Thinking of Lowering

Post by Lacey_Corsa »

hey all!

just looking into lowering the corsa, looked at it today next to a lowered one and it did look high off the ground

i live near a few speed bumps and have no way ov avoiding them to get off my street so would it be wise to only go 40/60mm max?

15inch alloys btw, astra ones with 195 tyres on them

thanks

It all depends on how much u wanna spend really. If u wanna go 60mm down the u will need to get a full suspension kit (shocks and springs) but if u only went down 40mm then u would get away with just buying springs. My Corsa sits on G-Max 60mm suspension kit with standard Corsa Sport wheels at the moment (14" with 185/65/14 tyres) and i dont get much bother from the speedbumps, but i dont go fast over them anyways!
I wish my car was alot faster :( ..........

well i dont mind spending a bit more for quality equipment, specially if it improves the ride quality etc

i was looking at either 40 or 60mm with full springs and damper kits on ebay, branded ones of course

just hope with the 15's it doesnt rub too many or smash my undercarrage on the road over speed bumps

With the correct wheel offset it will never rub in a million years! Just make sure your wheels are an et49 offset and u wont have any problems with rubbing, I made that mistake with my car (wheels were the wrong offset) and as soon as i changed them to the Fanblades i used to have there was not 1 bit of rubbing!

mines lowered 60mm on the back with springs and shocks, and 60+mm on the front with coilovers and standard sxi wheels. mine HAS rubbed once or twice but its more a case of it bottoming out and the wheels being forced right up in to the arches.

usually happens on back roads and blind sumits when u go a LITTLE  bit to fast

although my front mud gaurds do rub alot over speed humps
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

nice!

think im going to go with 40mm all round to start, never lowered before and gunna start small, there are a lot of bumps and i do drive through a lot of backlanes and stuff. give it a go i think

if it all goes well i know i can prob get 60mm out of it 8)

roll on payday when the spoiler, arches and lowering commences
