Hi, Ive fitted a new cam belt, water pump rollers tensioner etc on the car. put all back together but now isnt running right.
When cold revs fine about 1000 rpm then drops to around 850 when hot. When trying to rev when warm it hesitates and doesnt want to rev. I think it may be the timing thats out but dont understand how as all the sprockets line up and all sensors etc have been put back. I did notice when removing the belt the inlet cam moved forward so when fitting the new belt i held the cam back whilst putting the belt on. Has anyone else had this problem any ideas would be a great help?! Thanks, alex

strip all the covers off fella and check the timing again it sounds like its out to me, did you use a locking tool ? if you didnt use one, there not expensive about a tenner i think. its crytical to get the timing spot on or it will run like a bag of poo. hope this helps chap

Thanks i didnt use a locking tool just the good old haynes manual but wish i knew i had to use a tool, i've done loads of belt changes in the past including the good old vaux V6 but never had a prob like this just really annoying! i'm going to check the water pump is exactly lined up too with the cylinder block as i think that can effect timing

Re: Corsa 1.4 sport 16v cam belt probs
it can but is knowhere near as critical as other than pumping the water round it only realy acts as a idler as long as its close to the old position and running true it will be fine because the belt is tensioned independantly unlike the older 8v vaux engines

Sorted it! Turned out it was the coolant temp sensor that decided the pack up. When up plugged the car ran fine then when connected ran like a bag of nails. Gave it a clean with a brillo pad and all is well! Thanks again for advise
