Strange sound under the car when turning right.

Post by Randomrex »

Hi guys!

My first post on this Forum! 3 weeks ago, I bougth an Opel Corsa 1998 1,4 Sport.
Its a really fun car to drive, and so far everything seems ok.

Well, today I noticed a strange sound from under the car when steering the car in slow speed to the right. Seems it happends when i have a low rpm.
I have tried to locate where the sound is coming from, and after some tries, it seems to come from straight under the car. Somewhere between the seats.
My first thought was that my middel exhaust system had loosen, and I really hope this is the problem. Still I cannot understand why this only happends when turning right...

Has anyone heard of something like this before? Any other thoughts?

Thanks! :)

(PS. Nice forum, just what I need!)

OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.

Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Hi, and thanks for the quick answere!
I will try to lift my car as good as I can tomorrow, and have a look at thees hangers. As I allready said; I HOPE this is the problem, couse its easy to fix.
On the other hand, im a bit sceptical, because it only happends when turning right. If the hangers were loose, I guess the problem would occur all the time??

I will aslo have a look at the clamps! :)

yh its a bit of a funny one. just start with the easyiest and most obvious and work your way up.

best bet it to get under the car and gove everything a good tug and see if you can hear the noise

Ok, problem solved today!

As mentioned before; it was a loose exhaust system.
The rear was hanging loose, making the whole systems abit shacky. Just enough to make the exhaust pips hit some other metal and create this strange sound.

Case closed! :)
