help spraying

Hi every one

Sorry if this has been asked before lol im just after some advice about spraying my standerd mirrors as i want to c/c them.

just wondering if any one could tell me how to do it lol i will be using rattle cans and all the halfords stuff prity much

any help would be great!

Use Any Paint We Use Halfords On My Mates Car Loooks Serious So I Would Go With Halfords

Hi m8,
Give them a light rub down with 180 sandpaper or finer.
Use panel wipe to stop any reaction
I'd personally get some plastic primer as it will allow paint to stick beter to plastic, give couple of coats allow to dry
Give light rub down with 180 or finer
Give the parts a wipe with panel wipe this prevents a reaction to the paint if any grease etc on panels.
Then get paint and mirrors warm some how lol and paint with several light coats with 5min between coats.
Spray can paint drys alot faster than usin spray equipment.
Once done and last coat is 'tacky' start spraying the laquer on several light coats.
Once done allow to dry and give them good t-cut after few days to make sure paint not soft still.
Try to do the painting in a dust free area and warm, as sprayin is beter in warm conditions

if you want to be 100% sure you Paint is gona match. get ur paint code and you can get the paint mixed in to rattle cans for you. so you kno 100% its gona match.

thanks for all the replys lads i got all the bits earlier so will give it a go tomorow probibly, people have told me to leave the mirrors in my house for a day or so once the laquer has dried to give it time to hardern is that rite ?

if i was u dnt do it wiv a 180's pad,
do everything else he says but use finer paper or even a red scotch
because u'll b able to see the scratches of the pad if you use 180's, 600 wet or dry probly ur best bet if u want flat them

I agree that 180 will leave scratches, I used 240 during the primer stages and 800 with the real paint when I re-painted my front bumper. 800 was a right pain, but it made it silky smooth... perfect for the stones to bump into Maybe try 400-600ish, if you do it well it'll look good, if you don't, it won't. Consider it a learning curve! Patience is a virtue and all that

word of advice,start with 240 grit,prime,400 grit,re-prime 600 grit,1st coat 15mins 2nd coat,if satisfied with finish,let dry 12/16 hrs depending on temperature,1200 grit,lacquer 10mins,2nd coat lacquer,leave to dry and harden for 3/4 days,give it a good wax and polish.
TIP-- when you use wet n dry use warm water with some washing up liquid in it,it makes the paper slide easier.

At my work we use 180s then paint,every1 is different though.
We respray complete london busses after rubbin down with 180s n never have any problems.
