My P plate Corsa 1.7d
Got it off my dad and he did warn me of the throttle. Its really stiff to push, which i suppose is great for driving economically, but every time i floor it my right leg gets a full work out.
Just wondering how to fix, or if at all it can be permanently fixed?
Thinking maybe the cable is frayed and catching?
Cheers

Re: Sticky/Stiff Throttle pedal
had the same problem with my corsa d just disconnect the cable at the pedal and pull it into engine bay hold it upright and blast a load of wd40 down it that cures it .i got really fed up trying to drive in traffic with 2 feet on the throttle pedal seems a common problem on the diesels

Re: Sticky/Stiff Throttle pedal
Right i tried that. Removed the cable from the pedal, pulled it into the engine bay, and sprayed poo loads of WD40 down it. Seemed to work slightly, but when i drove it again the next day it was still stiff, so it was very pemporary. So i did it again, but this time looked at where the cable connected to in the engine bay, the throttle or whatever you call it on a diesel :S Found that actually it was this mechanism that was stiff. Tried spraying this with WD40 but this had little to no effect.
Got my dad to look at it as he has a lot more experience with cars than me, and we found this little damper, like a shock asbsorber, connected to the arm of the accelerator. This was making loads of hissing noises, and looked pretty tatty, so we removed this (does anybody know what purpose it serves?) It has helped a lot, and the pedal now springs back properly when i take my foot off it, which it didnt before. However, it is still stupidly stiff, so i think it may be the accelarot unit itself. anyone with an isuzu diesel themselves, would know that it is a bitch to get to without removing the inlet manifold, so im just gonna leave it until i want to do something else which involves removing the manifold.

i dont really know much about diesels but if its anything like a petrol it will be an idle control valve and yes u deffinatly need itwe found this little damper, like a shock asbsorber, connected to the arm of the accelerator. Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: Sticky/Stiff Throttle pedal
Nah the idle control valve is part of the unit i think. It has a little screw that u can adjust to fiddle with the idle. It doesnt seem to have affected the way the engine behaves. My dad rekoned it might be to help with kangraooing, but the car does that anyway because the stop soleniod (i think thats what stops kangarooing) is dead.
