Strange knocking and creeking

Hi,

Just bought a corsa ls 1.2 8 valve last week and have found a few problems.

The first is that when going over bumps etc, something knocks on the underside of the car. I took the car to a garage and they found it was the exhaust. I payed for a new exhaust and the banging stopped, however a few days later it has started to do it again. Anybody have any suggestions other than the exhaust, I think I may take it back as they gave me a 3 year guarantee on the exhaust.

The second (not so much a problem) is creeking from the rear of the car. This only occurs when people are sat in the back. I thought maybe the rear shocks/suspension. If this is the case, how much should I expect to pay to get it fixed?

Sorry if there is any lack in technical terms, just passed in march so not really knowledgeable on the technical side of things.

Knocking could be any number of things. Suspension bushes, shock absorbers, one of the ball joints. Need to take the wheel off and have a good old look at the suspension and running gear.

The creaking in the back. Back seats maybe? Dunno otherwise lol

thats what I thought.

I took it to a garage last week, like i said, and I have just checked now and the exhaust is rubbing against the handbrake underneath the car. And i noticed they have used tie wraps? Seems like a bodged job to me. Also it isnt as sturdy as I first thought, i can lift it up to touch the body of the car. Paid £94 pound for that fixing.

What! Cowboy job by the sounds of it buddy. If you still got your receipt, have a look to see what it says, and if it says anything other than the ties, have it off em. Take it somewhere else next time

I would take it straight back mate and demand they fit it properly and change the rubbers. On the creeking issue, does this happen when driving??

Yeah thats what I thought. I just havent got the money to take it anywhere else though.

And yeah the creeking is like when i set off with people in the back, oh and going over potholes etc

the creeking noise can be caused anything a lot of corsa make the creeking noise when people jump in the back its a common problem

Hi mate the creeking noise maybe coming from the boot arms on the car as my corsa done the same i swapped the arms round with another in the scrap yard and bingo the noise was gone, If that doesnt cure it then put falcro pads were the parcel shelf rests sometyms it rubs there and it will make a creeking noise aswell, does your car have a back box? I have a back box on mines and some times wen you turn a corner or go over a ramp i hear a clunk and it is my back box hitting of the spring, due to worn rear rubbers, good luck mate

Ill check those out mate thanks. But im pretty sure it maybe the suspension now. Had a good listen and its definiately from the bottom of the car somewhere.
