Engine light HELP
I have a corsa b 1.0, have just had trouble with it when i was going around 60-70 engine light would come on and would lose all power but changed the MAF and it sorted it for about a week but now i have another problem! when i am driving and am not pressing on the accelerator or any pedals just rolling in gear, like 2 traffic lights as the revs drop the engine light will come on but then go off usually after about 10 secs or when i stop, and also the battery light will flash sometimes on but just for a second. does any one no what this could be and how to fix it!????? Thanks.

Re: Engine light HELP
Not sure what to say about the engine light but it might just be the ECU needs clearing of any errors you had from the MAF.
The battery light - how often does it flash on? It could be a sign that the altenator is on its way out, had this on a works van and changed the altenator and all was fine.

Re: Engine light HELP
unfortunatly i have the 1ltr Matty and had same faults, the prob at 60 mph is a sure sign of the MAF, and cutting out at lights (beyond me how the car knows where the lights are and when to stop lol) was the ERG valve, the crankshaft sensor can cause it but usually plays up when engine is hot.
Good luck mate, the thing about these 3cyl jobs is that you cant do the paperclip test and trying to find a compatable fault reader to read the motronic ECU is a flamin nightmare, ive posted questions about it and no one really knows. please post back if you sort it mate, im sick of following threads with no confirmation of what happened, thats no use to anyone lol.

Re: Engine light HELP
the battery light only flicks on for a second will disconnect it and charge it see if that helps the ECU

Re: Engine light HELP
im getting the EML on after about 5 miles of driving at steady 40/45mph too. Had a problem with my motor when i bought it a few weeks back. It's a 1998 1.2 trip (i think) and by using the link above on engine types im guessing it's an 8v.
Shortly after i bought it it blew one of the hoses coming fromthe coolant tank, figured out the fan wasnt coming on. After chnaging the switch i figured out there was a bad earth connection and got that sorted... fan now works at 94/96 degrees. Thought that had sorted the Engine Managment Light too but... hey presto... it's back!!
I cant find a diagram that matches my diagnostic connection beside the fuse box so i'm unsure if i can do a paperclip test.
Do you think i should change the MAF or could this just be a retention of the old error code, hence the ECU needs clearing?

Re: Engine light HELP
change the MAF lol, seriously, old error codes are still in the ECU but dont show, and disconnecting your battery to wipe them is a myth. get a MAF from scrappy, then if that fails try the old EGR valve then crank sensor, these are the common faults, except for sweet wrappers in the back of my car,,, flamin kids! hehe.
