Hi guys,

I'm having trouble deciding if to buy a 96 n reg corsa 1.4 16v sport, Failed MOT - any ideas??

please tell me what you think how much needs to be spent on the following to get it through the MOT:

Reason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate

Nearside Front Headlamp aim too low (1.6)

Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive (7.3.2c)

Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.2b)

Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.2b)

Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (7.3.2b)

Exhaust emits excessive dense blue smoke during acceleration (7.3.A.1c)

Centre Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2a)

Offside Front Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion which adversely affects braking or steering (6.1.1) **DANGEROUS**

Nearside Rear Tyre has a cut in excess of the requirements deep enough to reach the ply or cords (4.1.C.1a)

Nearside Front Brake pad(s) less than 1.5 mm thick (3.5.1f)

Advisory Notice issued

the guy is asking £400, i put in a offer of £250, but still, can you tell me how much i should buy it for considering the amount of work that is needed?? and
please tell me what you think how much needs to be spent on the car to get it through the MOT??

i wouldnt touch it mate emits blue smoke is never really a good sign
i would save a lil more and get one with mot

its gonna cost a lot m8 - defo the cat and exhaust is gone.... but the biggest worry is the blue smoke and the excessive corrosion. blue smoke is a tell tale sign of a fooked engine. and welding on a corsa never comes cheap.

plus all them advisory items are gona go soon on it

honestly m8 id run away in horror from that thing even if the guy with giving it me for free.... unless i had access to a garage and could do the work myself. if u can fix things urself it could work

personally id just wait around and get one with an mot for around the 500-700 quid mark - they aint that much m8

Seriousy dont bother, i picked 1 up the other day for £170 That needed a little welding on the sills, but stripped it and weighed it in.

Like the others have said blue smoke means its burning oil which isnt a good sign and look at all the other stuff wrong with it.

Shop about a bit dont throw money at the first thing you see. :)

i wouldnt bother mate its work 100 notes for parts thats about it the chassis is rotton and it will need whole new exhaust and an engine rebuld at thats just too start
