Post by robclowes »

Please help,is driving me mad!!! My sons 98 s reg corsa 1.0 12v keeps overheating. I have changed the 2 senders, thermostat and fan switch. Flushed engine and rad. When car is running goes into the red without the fan cutting in and when I have bypassed fan switch and fan runs continuosly engine still overheats to the stage that the water bubbles/boils!!
Please help :( :( :(

it must be a dodgy thermostat, take it out and try it in some boiling water just to make sure its working.

you say you have changed the thermostat. i would take it out run the engine and if the temp gauge goes near the red, link out your fan 2 pin socket that goes to the radiator, if fan comes on and engine doesnt cool down, then your not getting water running through the system, ive had the same problem and after checking the flow with a flush (which was ok) i changed the waterpump which cured it., theyre prone to go and cheap on ebay, but, it can be a bugger to change.
if the engine does cool down after trying the above, then its either your thermostat or your temp sensor (the one on the radiator), good luck.
ps. post back if you sort your prob, might save someone a few quid.
