Please help
Hi i need some help. I Brought a 1998 Corsa B GLS with the X10XE engine in for my step daughter. When we first got the car it wouldnt start without holding the accel pedal then wouldnt idle alone till it was warm. I adjusted the screw on the throttle an that solved that the car was great for a few months. Then it started going wrong lol. It started cutting out everytime you pressed the clutch pedal to change gear then after a wile wouldnt restart. I started serchin forums and it all pointed to the crank position sensor. I got one off ebay from vauxworld put it on an was back to the beggining adjusted the screw again prob sorted. A few weeks later the car started revin up on its own when warm then cutting out and wouldnt restart till it cooled down back to the forums. This pointed to the coolant temp sensor so i changed that. It then started ran then just cut out and wouldnt restart. Back on to forums pointed back to the crank sensor buying cheap is not an option they said so went to vauxhall an got a brand new one. Now when u start the car the idle speed contol valve shoots out an revs up to the limiter u can push it back by hand then the car starts hunting. I have a snapon diag machine an it comes up with the code P0505 Idle air control vaule blocked. I have clened the throttle body all the brether pipes removed the rocker cover and cleaned the vent across the top I have also cleaned the MAF sensor and cleaned and reset the idle speed control valve as posted by Octane2097 but the car is still the same please help.

Re: Please help
I think you may need to replace the idle control valve mate - or there are guides on the internet on how to clean it, however I was unable to bring mine back to life and had to replace it.

OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: Please help
Get one from the scrappys, most of the scrap merchants mark the part you buy, so that you cannot swap their good one with your old one, so, if the one from the scrappy doesn't seem to help the problem, take it back and swap for another one, or get a refund. If they are a half way decent scrappy they will do this for you.

Ive just removed and cleaned the egr valve and the idle speed control valve as it looks preety new anyway. Rebuilt it an started it the idle control valve now seems to be doin its job its not revin up to limiter when first started. But i still have the hunting problem with code P0505 idle air control valve blocked. Does any one now where this vale is ?

Re: Please help
blank off egr valve . make a plate out of tin (can will do) to the shape of gasket. cutting out the hole for the water to flow into chamber. Run car if better then new egr valve is needed. Give me a pm if you need a plate making as I made one last week and impressed myself with my fabrication!
