HELP!! Loss of power garage unable to find problem.

Post by bunnie84 »

I have a p reg corsa breeze 1.4 5 door.

A few days ago I started noticing loss of power/sluggish acceleration. Over the space of a day or two the problem got to the point where the car will not pull away without cutting out. Concencuss between the two AA guys I had out and my sister was either a blocked exhaust or something wrong with the cat.

Took the car to my garage today and they took the exhaust system off including cat. Now it wont run and they cant figure out whats up, last i heard before they closed for the day was they were waiting on a guy with a computer they can hook it up to. They suggested if the ECU needs replacing its gonna cost.

Has anyone else had a similar problem, or can make any suggestions?

Cheers everyone.

im guessing the engine management light comes on?

i can pritty much garentee you wont need replace your ecu. sounds like it cud be the mass air flow meter or the crankshaft sensor. someone like bluecorsab or octane will be able to shed light on it.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

i would try unplugging the mass air flow meter, it will put the eml on but not to worry, if it runs better than thats the problem, you may aswell get the car plugged into a diagnostics machine to see if the ecu has picked up and stored any other faults but i shouldnt think for one minute there will be a problem with ecu itself
RED Corsa GSi Owner - Thats one GSi saved from the scrapheap and the pikeys who break them or ruin them with tacky mods :D
