car pulling to the left

Post by Ross92 »

I have just recently bought a 1.2 16v SXi.
The only thing wrong with it is that when you drive at any speed the steering pulls off to the left and goes onto full left lock if i leave go while driving.
I have changed the motor from the steering column and have had no luck as it is still doing the same thing, just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and what they did to over come the problem without changing the steering column

souunds to me like it could be a tracking issue. the tracking is pretty important as if its out it will cause unequal wear in ur tyres and can cause the problem ur describing. However, it seems to me that your problem is pretty bad in which case it could be something more serious such as maybe a wishbone (when i crashed and bent mine it made the tracking go pretty damn wonkey). Get ur tracking checked by a good garage first tho - most of the time they will check it free of charge :)

when the car isnt driving you cannot really tell until you start the engine and the steering wheel moves to the nearside about a quarter of a turn.
and the tracking is all spot on mate, i work at a garage myself so i definatly no that its not that, i have checked all the bottom arms aswell and there is nothing wrong with them, i have been advised to try another motor as it may have just been a coincidence that both motors are broke, the only other option is to change the whole column as it will be easier and cheaper than getting it refurbished
