Poor speed/accleration

Post by sammclean23 »

Hi,

Just something, not so much a problem, but something that's annoying. My Corsa B is a 1.2i but my friends' car's are always faster in both speed and accleration.

These are:
1.0 Toyota Yaris VVti: 0- 60 in 13 seconds
1.1 peugot 106: 0-60 in 13. 5seconds
1.1 Citroen Saxo

I thought with the bigger engine the car should be that bit quicker, is the engine restricted or something?

Sorry for the weird topic but any replies are appreeciated

EDIT: just looked and the 1.0 version is even faster than mine? whats the crack here lol.

Yeah thats what im going to do. Got an air filter on already. I just found it surprisiing that the car with the bigger engine is even slower than its 1.0 version. Anyway not to worry :) just wondered if any of you guys knew why it was like this. And yeah its an 8 valve :)

I had a 1.2 8v spi. to be honest, it was pretty wick for what it was. It was totally standard engine wise, I just gave it an oil and filter change every 3 months, cleaned the plugs, air filter and fuel filter at the same time and changed them atleast once a year. I would have it in tip top condition all year round and I would only use Shell fuel. The supermarket stuff is poo.

Try give it a good service and see if that helps. If your air filter or fuel filter are gettin on abit this could slow down the acceleration

Yeah ill try the fuel. And its just had a new oil/air filter. Everything, new plugs aswell. Got serviced last month. Thing is, even the specification says its slower than the cars mentioned in the main post. Just dont understand how its 1.0 counterpart can be quicker. Oh well
