*Progress Update*

So, nothing has happened yet with the handbrake etc. but we managed to get some more paint from Halfords, so just about got the front bumper done.

Got it back on, along with the front arches - it's not 100% perfect, as it's taken a knock at some point and some of the fixings have snapped off :( but, it'll do for the time being, until the weathers a wee bit drier and we have time to f*ck about with it!!

Also got the boot-lock colour coded and back on, and got some of the rust patches painted up too...

Here's a few pics to keep you all up to speed

There was also the issue of the front door pockets to sort out too, as the lovely aftermarket window winders had taken great big gouges out of them, so we got them filled, prepped and primed!

A gsi spoiler has been ordered and is hopefully on it's way, so once dents etc. are filled/sorted that should just about sort the exterior for now!

As always, all comments and suggestions welcome.

came out not too bad actually, if we had been more patient then would come out even better!! haha!!

rubbed down the existing paintwork/plastic with fine grade sandpaper on the paint and scoth pads on the plastic bits

clean it all down, get rid of all the dust etc.

once dry, prime (i used grey because thats what the top-coat said too!)

left to dry, then sanded down primer with wet fine grade sandpaper

again, clean off and leave to dry

i did a quick, light prime coat in the finish colour, then left that to dry properly.

then just built up the colour in thin coats, trying to avoid heavy patches and dribbles!

once happy with colour, gave it a good few coats of clear lacquer and it comes up right shiny!!

hope this helps!

dont put a bodykit on it mate, they look rank, get a gsi bodykit and itl compltly change the look of the car, the handbrake cable is pretty straight forward, i did mine on tuesday at work, just jack car up put it on axle stands, take drums off, take the cable of from the shoe, pull the wee lockin thing out from the rubber holding the handbrake cable in, then on the front its at the side of the heat sheild, just take the end of the cable out from a wee s shape bracket thing, and put screwdriver or something between the old cable and the hole it goes through from the backpart of it, to wedge it out then it should just come out, you have to take the cables out from the adjuster, put the short cable in a vise, and put vise grips from the adjuster bit not on the nut cause you can change rounding it off so put vise grips just above it and work it off, then its just put cables back through the backplate of the drum, and connect it up there, connect the long cable what goes to the passenger side back up to the front, make sure its in properly cause its a right pain when it comes out when you adjust the cable up lol, after everything is in positino, adjust your shoes so the drum is skifin the shoes when you turn it, if theres a lip on the drums just grind it off its pretty straight forward, then the hard bit is putting the long cable into the adjuster bracket, put the short cable into the adjuster bracket first and put the adjuster on the short cable a couple turns thats it, then pull the long cable until its in the bracket, but forgot to mention you have to put the cables trhough the wee guides on the axle, fill them wi grease, cause all the poo what gets in them causes them to wear most of the time, and get a 11mm open ended spanner and adjuster the cable up, hope that helps mate, oh and also if your gettin rid of your interior i would swap you, but mines aint got electric windows thats the only thing but neither has alot of corsas on this lol

jordyp - it wont be a monsterous kit, a subtle one probably, not like one from the 90's!!

to fill the wiper hole i just sanded down the surrounding area put a bit of mesh inside the hole, and held it on with p38 fibreglass stuff, waited for it to set, flushed it off with p40, waited for it to set, sanded it down smooth, primed it, waited to dry, wet-sanded it with 1500g sandpaper, then painted it with the blue, and looks pretty good!! i'm sure there's a how to on here somewhere!!

yea, plastics going that colour, and hopefully soon the exterior too!! lol!

well, we would like some recaro's or similar for front seats, and a retrim for the rear. but it's all money, so we're getting everything back to standard then, then modding the bits as an when we can afford it. and watching out for bargains! lol!

we got more plastics done, as you'll see in the next update, and we know someone that will spray, so just saving up 2 buy the paint and bodykit etc. first

if you look further up th thread you'll see i've already explained the process to someone else.

as long as you use a good primer and plenty of lacquer to protect it, then any paint will do. you can get specific plastic primers, but colour and lacquer can be any.

you've got to rub it down to take the shine off and give the paint something to stick 2.

have a read of my previous post, and if there's anything your still not sure of, ask away
