Hi does anyone know what the correct operation of these valves should be when actually doing their job?
For example on idle should it stay still or move in and out every few minutes and also what is it the tip pushes on as in the little screw on the throttle housing?

So no one knows how it should work?
Lots of posts from people advising other people to change theirs because its a common problem yet no one can say how they work?

Re: Idle air control valve
I am assuming Idle Air Control Valve = Idle control valve.... Mine was broken and stayed still. My new one also stays still once the engine is running, however as you start the engine it moves out a bit to press on the throttle and then slowly (so slowly you cant really see it) moves back in. Easiest way is to check the rev needle. Started on cold the car will sit at 1500 RPM and slowly drop down to 930 RPM as the engine warms up. Does this help?
I never managed to open mine to clean it without snapping off all the plastic tabs as I am ham fisted muppet... the guide is good, Im just a tool
Also when you repalce it you need a tool to reset it the EMU learned settings - I used one off the internet for £30 that I also used to read the EMU error codes.
