SRi 8v clutch cable question?

just bought a 93 SRi for me misses and the clutch pedal is right up in the steering column!! the mechanism under the bonnet is also touching the gearbox mount so i cant adjust it there, im wondering is it common for the cables to stretch or do you guys think its new clutch time? the clutch feels good and has no slip on it at all which is leading me to think it cable stretch

i dont think its very common, im not really sure tbh not came along that problem in my travels so far, take it a garage and just ask them for a wee bit advice mate
