removing drivebelt?

Post by spartacus »

Hi can someone tell me how to remove the drivebelt on a 1995 corsa 1.2 8v please? Its a ribbed belt and the Haynes manual mentions an automatic tensioner but I can't see any sign of one. I think I might need to loosen some bolts on the alternator to slacken the belt but am not sure which ones, if any.

Could someone please tell me what I should be doing as its doing my head in! Thanks

the drive belt which your on about with the auto tensioner is the cam belt under the covers, what your looking at is the auxhillary drive belt, aka alternator belt which yea you will have to slacked of the alternator unless you can get a screwdriver in and turn it over by hand and prize the belt of,

Cheers, yeah I was on about the aux drivebelt. Could you give me a rough idea of how many/ which bolts I need to slacken off?

on the alternator theirs one securing bracket at the top, and then theirs the adjusting bolt also, you might have to slacken of the main alternator mounting bolt aswell due to it being tight and not allowing rotation of the alternator.
