Hi
Help appreciated please.
I have a 1.4 corsa sport that has started a knock at about 2,500 revs then fading out at about 3,500 revs I was assuming it was big ends but I am told it could be other things. Any ideas please?
If it is the big ends, I need the "engine code" to identify which engine it has. Where will I find the code please?
Many thanks
Keith

duno bout the knockin but more than likely internal, stick your head in engine bay an rev it see if you can tell where abouts its from as maybe could be somethin ran off the belt like alternator or somethin??????? my corsa big ends went but itd be fine til bout 3000 revs then as youd rev higher itd get more noisy lol. i have a 99 sport 1.4 an mines a x14xe if thats an engine code lol

yep x14xe is an engine code, the same as mine as for finding the code, it can be found on the block near the gearbox!
As for the knock, do as JohnSport has said, and stick your ears over the engine and find a rough area of wear the knock is coming from, it could be a few things like you say. Does it definatly go at 3500rpm or does it just get drowned out with the noise of the engine etc? Check it aswel with your head in the engine bay
