Mass Air Flow Sensor/Meter

Post by Louie_22 »

Hey,

Was wondering if anyone could advise me about my mass air flow meter, I think I am in need of a new one. Would any corsa mass air flow meter work as long as it fits? I have seen one for a corsa 2.0 Diesel, but looks exactly the same as the one I have and need, I currently have a 1.0 Petrol, would replacing my current one with the 2.0 Diesel Air flow meter make any difference?

Thanks for your time,
any comments muchly appreciated.

only buy a genuine bosch air flow meter as copies of them dont last anywhere near as long

i can get one for about £90 off a mate brand new but the copies are as cheap as £30 for obvious reasons

right if your not sure if you MAF is the problem i wud pinch one from a scrappy and see if it works. if you want genuine one from vauxhall there about £220.
you can get copies on ebay but obvisously for 25 quid they aint gona be as good.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Im running a copy on my 1.0 12v, it started playing up, management light was flickering on and i was losing power (no 12v jokes please  )

Its still going strong, but from what ive just read lets see how long it last! was only £25 though.

I better get that c20ne sorted! :D

Hey, thanks for the advice. Went to scrap yard the other day, they got me a MAF and said it would be £25, this was off a 1.0 corsa, I decided not to pay for this as I thought that it might not work/being a rip off, was I wrong to refuse this?

I've been having problems with my corsa for quite a few weeks now, the car doesn't appear to like going very fast, as when this happens (e.g 50mph +) the car appears to like slow down even with my foot on the floor.. I was advised this was the air flow meter. Enigne warning light is also on now and again..

Grrr too many problems!!! :/

when you stick your foot to the floor at 50, it feels like u are braking instead ? corect

try easing your foot up off the throttle and see if that helps. if it does, get a new maf sensor

Yes that is exactly how it feels. it does it also when going up hills, it begins to slow down, even when my foot is down and i'm the onlyone in the car!! :(

So would it matter if i shoved a 1.7 TDI diesel MAF in the car? they look the same but would they both react the same as my current 1.0 litre petrol MAF?

Thanks

Yeah exactly the same as mine did till i replaced the maf, im not saying that is your problem but my car had all the same symptoms. I couldnt get up hills unless i when very slowly, followed by my engine light coming on. If i floored it, it would simply back off and feel like i was pressing the brakes at the same time.

I wouldnt use anything other than a 1.0 12v one, they are most probably calibrated differently.
