Post by ikonuk »

my girlfriend has just brought a little red corsa 1.2 LS (1994) temp gauge seems to be running around the 100 mark. not loosing any water and no signs of bad head gasket. fan comes on on just after 100 and the temp lowers to about 95. the rad feels cold so im thinking the thermostat? had a look and cant seem to see it? please tell me its not behide the cam belt :-(

cheers

to change the thermostat on a 1.2 8 valve you have to take the cambelt off to get the the bolts that hold the thermostat housing on

really? im surprised its as little as that considering the cambelt needs to come off. mind you theres lots of space in the engine bay. a nice change compared to working on my fiat coupe, which is super tight for space. I dont really like messing about with the cambelt so thiink this will be a garage job.

thanks for the info

heyya. sorry about the late reply. forgot to check up on this thread.

Well i got a local garage to change the themostat and now thw temp hardly ever goes above 90. if im stuck it traffic it will reach near 100 and the fans will come on and the temp will come down. but for normal driving its 90 so happy days :D
