Hey there guys
As some may know im currently on the hunt for a new car and i've come across a nice little corsa with a 1.6 GSI engine in a 1.4 sport (its still the 1.4 sport on the log books aswell) and im just wondering how much it would actually cost to swap the engine back to the 1.4 via a garage?
what price range would i be looking at for the transplant?
The only reason why i would want to change it back to the 1.4 is the current engine in it seems to be knocking on the lower end of the engine and the bloke selling it reckons it could do with either a change or a rebuild.
Cheers Adam

Re: Engine Swapping
well
don't know how much it would be, but the knocking noise is probably a sign that the crankshaft is away. Unfortunately ive had that problem before, gladly i picked another engine up cheap enough and i had a engine jack and i done the rest myself, you just have to remember what goes where

yehh well I would do it myself if i had the tools and the space. No room in the garden, only got a really rough alley behind the house and dont have an engine lifter or any equipment

Re: Engine Swapping
it depends tbh on what garages are in ur local area. i know that in mine hardly any1 would touch an engine swap at all, even the indepepndant ones just didnt have the tools or time to attept something like this. the only one i got a quote for was 800 quid labour + ud have to find the engine and ecu and all the necessary parts, but he wudnt offer any form or gauruntee on the work done.
best thing to do is get the yellow pages out and have a ring around
