Full Set of 5, with Front 4-hole Sliders and Pop out Vents on the Rear Quarters

Should be ready for collection by next weekend.

Finally!

Took the Team Dynamics off to get the Tyres swapped over to the SRi 16s today - cost me a chunk seeing as my mate who usually does them FOC has left the place he worked at to do something else, but never mind.
Still, the place I did go is ran by a younger guy anyway, who is now trying to find if he can supply me Yokohama Track tyres for the Team Dynamics, and he'll also be doing me 4-Wheel Laser Alignment for just under £25, so might get that done in the next couple of weeks.

Anyway. I digress. Back to the main subject matter...











Windows will be around next weekend, but probably won't be fitted immediately, I've got a few parts to stockpile over the next few months ready for next year...

looks really mint mate i seen a set of they alloys on a vectra and was shocked didnt know they came in 4 stud lol. looks good though. got any more plans?

Engine mounts arrived this morning - i'm at home on Standby again, but luckily haven't bought expensive stuff whilst browsing t'internet this time!

But, seeing as I wasn't out on site, I still had to find myself something practical to do, namely DIY Bodgetastic Mount Strengthening!


So, here we go;

Set of Mounts present;




Tools and bits for Bodge Strengthening - RTV Sealant, Extra Rubber, Nuts/Bolts;




Cut the Exhaust Rubbers up to give pieces of rubber to use in the mount voids;




Make Blanks for one side of each mount and tape into position securely;




Apply sealer to fill the gaps at the blank, then fill more in the areas where extra rubber will be fitted, fit rubber pieces, then continue filling with sealer around the extra rubber pieces and lay a coat over the exposed face








Now they are being left for a week or more to set before I attempt to get them on the car...

I collected my windows today.

I'm happy with them so far, just need to get them fitted at some point soon (and then buy a cover for the car to keep them out of the weather so much!)

Made some use of the light that was still about when I finished work today and decided to see how much effort would be required to do the Poly Windows.

Got a bit carried away and ended up fitting one.

Will do the other tomorrow if I get a chance, then take more pics of the fitting whilst i'm at it

looks nice mate fair play, i really like polly windows, but id just be anoyed that i couldnt wind the window down at all... as i like a bit of breeze and hear noise when im driving.

Fitted the other front window today. Inbetween rain etc!




Then tucked the thing up for a couple of nights - it needs a cover now to stop water going in through the slider holes when it's laid up for days/weeks...





It's in for MOT on Wednesday, so i've got to fit the packed engine mounts and a replacement Cat before then, then once the MOT is out of the way, i'll be going mental with a Holesaw on the excess metal of the inner door skins prior to getting some new doorcards

Did some bits today, i'm off for the week...


Started off with the Engine Mounts - did the Gearbox/Left side first, the original was sloppy as feck, and the silicone i squirted in there whilst it was fitted a while back hadn't done anything;




Didn't get one of it fitted

Then attempted the Engine/Right side, following the Haynes instructions, and could not get the mount out atall. It is being blocked by the PAS Pump Pulley, Mounting Bracket and Aux Belt, which the Haynes manual doesn't show/take into account in it's instructions, so will need to do it when i have more time to be able to take more apart

Moved on and got the second Transmission/Rear done - again, my packed effort with plain silicone had failed epically;






Then, took out the Door Looms to be rid of all the redundant wiring from the Electric Windows etc, so lost the Electric Mirror heating and control, and central locking in the process - i'll be getting some Manual Mirrors and removing the Locking Solenoids in due course - passenger loom shown;




Then, got a bit excitable with my Drill and a Holesaw, until i almost cooked the drill and drained a couple of batteries...




Might crack out the mains powered drill tomorrow to get it done easier if the weather permits it (and once i've done all the MOT related stuff first! I get too easily distracted...)


Then, didn't get any pics as light was fading by the time i'd finished, I removed the Decat section ready to fit a replacement Cat tomorrow, though i need to get the centre section extension piece, as i forgot to get one the other day when i got the Cat...

why dont you just cut it all out? and just have it as a bare outside shell? and replace the door handle with just the rod or something...

I'll lose some of the rigidity of the the panels that get cut if I remove the full inner pieces, and i'd have to have a full, multipoint welded in cage to keep some stiffness, the holes will be covered by a Carbon Doorcard anyway to look tidier
