GEARBOX! X14XE on X12XE

hi iam new to the site and need abit of help
my gear box went the other week and so i took it of ready to replace with another one as well as the clutch my engine code is X12XE but the gear box i picked up the code on that is X14XE will it still fit my corsa and what difrents would it make

it will still fit yea, just the gear ratios are longer thats all, so you'l be doing more fuel economy driving at high speeds.

so will the change between gears be longer ?

just your top speed will be 117 i think it is? what you mean change between gears? and they're pretty much the same anyway for speed in certain gears in all corsas just the 5th gear really, well thats all iv found out going from a 1.2 8v to a 1.4 16v, just the 5th gear is shorter so i get more revs to go that bit faster.

i mean will the gears seem to last longer like 1st gear before i change to 2nd will i have to buy a difrent clutch or keep the one that matches up to the engine code thanks for your help so far pal

nah it should bolt straight up without any hassle, and i dont know about that bit of the gears lengths as iv never had to swap a gearbox on a 1.2

hi, i used to have a x12xe engine with a x14xe gearbox, it bolts straight on, tbh i think it was a much better gear box, the gear ratio is def different, you dont change outa 1st as quick, and you dont need 2 change the clutch, but if its partly worn, it would be worth changing it now rather than take it all apart again later, hope this helps

hi thanks for your help i think iam gonna go ahead with it then and ye gonna put new clutch in while aim at been told there is 2 different kinds of clutch something 2 do with the bearings? :S will be going a head with it this week end is all gose 2 plan unless some 1 comes up with a reson not 2

Hey mate let us know how it goes my gearbox is on it's way out And I'm thinking of doing simlar to you.. Let us know what its like to drive after the change ie crusing, acceleration and all that crap.. Oh and good luck with it mate..
