How often should gearbox oil be changed?

I have an X reg 1.0l Corsa with 47000 on the clock.
I have no idea about the service history. Does anyone know the recommend mileage to change the gear box oil?
I was also thinking of having my fuel filter change and wasn't to sure when this should be done. Some people say every few years some say you never need to?

Any help would be much appreciated
