this is what has gone on since i last updated

fitted some chrome vectra b door handles

Image

Image

replace the drivers side door rubber as it has a few rips in it, not sure how they got there though?

Image

Image

new one fitted

Image

smoked interior light

Image

sunglasses holder

Image

sunvisors with mirrors

Image

Image

then i started stripping the door looms and interior loom out of the tigra that i have in my driveway, was brought as a project but on closer inspection it needs more work than what it is worth so im going to use bits off it for the corsa and sell/scrap the rest

Image

Image

tigra all stripped and on the transit ready to go to the scrapyard in the sky lmao

Image

so with that out the way i got cracking with fitting new big end bearing as it was a bit noisy on the bottom end

Image

Image

had to take the gearbox end plate thingy off, whateva its called lmao as the sump wouldnt come off with it on

Image

replaced

Image

was going to take the balance shaft out and throw it in the bin but it didnt have one which was a bonus

gave the sump a clean before i put it back on

Image

old shells

Image

Image

bit pitted and well worn but the crank was perfect :)

all back together now and running good, just need to put a few miles on them now

only thing i couldnt put back on was the arb as its touching the exhaust downpipe so i need some lowering blocks, will get some ordered and get it put back on soon

went for a small road trip to hull to meet kwkmanta off migweb and collect a F20 gearbox i purchased, we arranged to meet up at the viewing area on the hull side of the humber bridge

Image

Image

Image

Image

he rolled up in his mk2 cav which was in good condition for it year, got the gearbox out and stuck in the car and started chatting about things, like how my car was built and we got talking about specky setting his new PB a few days ago, after a small chat we shook hands and went our seperate ways

we decided to come home via louth as caneby corner on the A15 was closed due to resurfacing  and ended up going to cadwell park as its on the way home and there was a car track day on :)

saw a few nice motors there, a few caterhams with xe's and crossflows, a blue nova which must of been an xe as it was pretty nippy, was on R888's aswell, a 205GTI on TB's and a few of the usual suspects like 172/182 clio's and scoobies

also saw a chrome painted R33 GT-R nissan skyline but it wasnt on track for long

didnt get any pics, got some videos but there not exactly good quality lmao rubbish phone

was a good day until i got home and wanted to do some work, started pissing it down lmao typical

next day i made some progress with the gearbox

spent some time degreasing it as much as possible with cif powerspray and a bit of petrol

Image

got the pressure washer out and blasted it all off :)

Image

left it to dry for a few hours and removed the clutch arm ready for paint

painted in primer

Image

Image

then a coat of some wheel silver

Image

and a second coat and all put back together :)

Image

so then set about getting the F20 fitted

first off i drained the oil by taking the diff plate off, stupidly i dropped the plate onto the side of the bowl while the oil was coming out and half of it ended up on the floor :doh:

Image

Image

separated the ball joints as i didn't want to touch the upright bolts and change the camber then got the shafts out

Image

the short shaft came out in 2 pieces as the inner cv boot had split so the inner cv joint stayed in the box

Image

passenger side tie rod and bottom arm removed aswell as the rear mount and linkage

Image

replaced the rear mount aswell as it was twisted, was never changed after its
accident  so donoured it from the tigra i broke few weeks back

supported the engine with a jack and got the front mount off

Image

got all the bellhousing bolts out and with a bit of a wiggle it was out :)

Image

new cv boot on short shaft

Image

checked the clutch while the box was out, its not too bad but will get a new one put in over winter, will most probably change the flywheel for a flat one aswell at the same time

transferred the speedo drive and clutch cover from the F16 to the F20 and got it lifted in and bolted up on the second attempt, first attempt failed as the fan was in the way so that had to be unbolted and lifted up

Image

all bolted back together pretty quickly from then until we got the the short driveshaft, the nut would go on the first set of thread but not tighten up on the second set, the threads had gone for some unknown reason so had to dismantle it again and change the cv joint, good job i kept a spare :)

the broken cv joint, sorry about the picture, by this time it was starting to get dark

Image

new cv joint fitted and tightened up this time :)

had to chop some of the threads off the new cv as the cap wouldnt go on

Image

torqued up the driveshaft nuts, fitted split pins, fitted caps, wheels back on, filled gearbox back up and done :)

took her for a test drive and its loads better, not working so hard through the gears anymore, thanks to kwkmanta for a brilliant gearbox :)

following day the weather wasnt so good so decided to fit my footwell lights

removed both kick panels and roughly marked up on the back where i wanted them to go

Image

poked a few holes with the soldering iron to remove the unwanted plastic then used a stanley to trim them till they fitted correctly

Image

Image

so thats them fitted to the panels, waited for a break in the weather and set about wiring them in

decided to run wires from the interior light down the A pillars to the kick panels

Image

noticed a damp patch on the roof lining while taking it to bits and fit the wires, seems the windscreen hasnt been fitted very well so will be having words with the man who fitted it and see what he is going to do about it

Image

the wires coming into the interior light

Image

all wired in :)

Image

and working

Image

sorry not a brilliant picture as its dark

that was it for a few weeks until we finally decided to get rid of the calibra so i treated the corsa to a leather interior :)

spent quite a few hours with care cream and shoe polish getting them clean as they were disgusting

before

Image

after

Image

the cat approves

after cleaning them changed over the subframes for tigra ones

for the back bench i used a non split rear bench and pulled the cali leather and foam off and trimmed them to fit on the corsa rear bench, there a tight fit on the bench but im pleased with the results

all fitted

Image

Image

also fitted my stainless rocker cover bolts and had a small clean lmao

Image

loads better

ow and ive had the windscreen re-fitted for free, spoke to the man who did it and explained that it leaked like a sieve and he said he was sorry and that he would do it again for us free of charge :D

then woke up on saturday to find this

Image

so while it was wet i checked the screen for leaks and is great now :)

couldnt resist another engine pics :p
Image

so.......happy now

well its been a while  hope you all had a great christmas, not a great deal has been going on due to bad weather :( but been gathering up a few more bits for her over the past few weeks, found some cheap R1 throttle bodies so snapped them up, so she going to be going on TB's and management some time next year, hopefully all done and mapped on the rolling road before show season next year

also sold my cav slabs to a member on corsasport so spent the money straight away on some gsi skirts with L pieces :D bargain at £60 posted, only downer is no jacking covers which is getting more common now

mot sure on weather to colour code it all or do the arches, skirts and tops of the bumpers gloss black. going to photoshop them and put them up on here for your opinions :D

cheers
