K&N 57i Induction kit

Post by gareth_mattey »

Hi,

Just recently had a longlife straight through exhaust fitted to my car, so much better and i was looking at getting an induction kit, would the k&n 57i be good or pipercross is it? Ive got a 1.2 16v engine. Heard some people say induction kits are good and others say you lose power.

Thanks

i used to have one on my 1.2 8valve and it increased power and drank petrol it gave it a nice sound but i took mine of because the car started to hesitate and lose power so put the standed one back on but think it just needs a clean have not got round to it yet but will do just give them some filter cleaner now and then every 5000 miles or something. and they fine as far as i am concerned mate.

the problwm you got is there aint much room under the bonnwt in a corsa. all an induction kit does is simply 'suck up' more air from where its located and as thats right next to the engine u will end up sucking up all the heat from ur engine block. this can be helped by getting a good cold air feed going to it but the best power gains tend to be with a custom air box mod - using a k&n panel filter instead of an induction kit and de-restricting it and putting a custom cold air feed to the box. Its a bit more work bt it does offer a noticeable difference on ur engine - i did it on mine :)
