Boot lock not locking correctly.

Post by Sens »

Hi guys!

Went shopping last night, came back and put stuff in the boot, couldn't shut the boot.

I climbed in and ripped off the door card and opened her up, now I'm in the position where I can lock and unlock the boot, BUT:

When the boot is shut and locked there is about a 1 or 2" play in it. As in you can still lift the boot up slightly.

Any ideas? I don't have the star style allen keys needed to take things off completely so access is a bit tricky at the moment.

Oh, incase it helps, the barrel turns and no clips in there are broken, that bit all works fine. I think it's just an issue with the actual locking mechanism.

probly best to change it mate but try and keep the barrel itself so you dont have to have a different key for the boot.

its probly just due to wear and tear to be honest, if you think how many times that lock has been opened and closed its had a pritty hard life
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:

Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

oh what might have happened is where the corsa latches onto is a bar lets say, and this car is threaded and if you loosen it off and pull it out away from the car so its easier for the boot latch to reach it, as you might have slammed your boot and it not lock but instead knock this bar down into the car further therfore when you try to close the boot the latch cant been the bar therefore a full lock cannot take place, its like when you havent closed your door fully you have that gap, well try this first see if it works, im only guessing it could be this  worth a try tho :D

I fixed it last night, I think it's what Pricer is trying to describe.

The pin which the lock actually clicks onto had just shaken itself loose, pulled it into place and tightened her up, jobs a good'un.

Cheers for the help guys, appreciate it.
