Wiring a remote wire!

Post by jmasters-2011 »

Hi all,

Have recently installed a new subwoofer with built in amp and a friend instructed me to splice the remote wire into the ignition power in the wiring loom (not the constant power wire, as this would drain the battery he says)

wondering if anyone could help me with this, identifying the wire and also how to splice my remote wire onto this as i am a complete novice when it comes to electricals. cheers :)

its usually either the red one or the yellow in, cut the wire and attach all 3 stripped wires together then tape them turn the radio on and see if the amp/sub turns on if it does great now turn the ignition off and see if the amp/sub turns off, if it doesnt try the other wire, once you have found the correct wire, solder them together
The rear seat thing, It is rare that I fold them down, but it has to be said that when folded they do remove a bit of weight.

oh and the remote wire wants to go to the blue wire on the loom you got with the stereo, it will not drain your battery

Yes, plug it directly into the loom, you could also splice into the loom wire then attach and tape it up. You cant really go wrong with this, check the top of your stereo the wiring diagram should be in plain sight so you know exactly which one to go into.
