Lemonmonkeys Corsa B

Post by lem0nmonkey »

Hey, little project thread on my corsa run around! got it for transport whilst my Cav Turbo is rebuilt from the gound up!!

Pics of the car as i bought it

Current mods are, Carbon Bonnet with catches, Kamie Mesh Grill DTM mirrors, Morrette Headlights, Gay LED Indicators, 15inch Golf Steelies, Adjustable Coilovers, irmsher tinted rear lights, and Gay straight through horrid exhaust!!

mechanically pretty sound, needs a bit of welding and tidying up bodywork wise, but nothing i cant do!!

Planned mods are!

Loose the DTM mirrors and fit standered ones back, loose the gay exhaust and fit a hidden fairly standered one VW smoothed euro style!, already made the inner morrettes into indicators and replace the side ones with MK4 astra ones, and get the body work straight!

may also fit a five stud conversion with disc all round, and either Turbo fan-blades, or 16inch versions of whats already on there!

looks good seen this and posted on allcorsa
The rear seat thing, It is rare that I fold them down, but it has to be said that when folded they do remove a bit of weight.

cheers, its a great little car, picked it up at a proper cheap price, prob make double back if i stripped it and weighed it in!!

gonna keep it though and run it as a cheap runaround and kinda a winter car whilst my other project is built!!

have noticed that the rear axle is slightly bent!! got some positive camber it would appear on the rear nearside wheel!!

and finding the right size tires is proving difficult!! sure i'll find some!

the lad i bought it off also has a load of spares, slandered wing mirrors etc!!

plus ive managed to source a complete sport interior all the seats plastics everything bar the dash, plus electric windows and central locking!! so should have that in soon!!

what engine is it mate? as i think to convert to a 5 stud setup you'd have to get the corsa 1.6 drive shafts, because then you can keep the smaller inner cv joints to fit your gearbox but also get the larger 2.0 outer cv joints and the larger 5 stud hubs to suit. because i dont think you can fit 5 stud hubs to small outer cv joints :? i may be wrong tho, let us know how it goes :D

Made a start on swapping the interiors today, obtained a full (except dash) interior from a 97 sport, front seats rear bench all black plastics rear shelf, doorcards elec windows and mirrors, theres also a elec sunroof coming,

just fitted the seats today as needed to for the MOT as the drivers seat belt clasp is a bit dodgy!

also fitted my isotta copy steering wheel!

One clean seat and one dirty, theyve been sat in a shed for a year!!

Got my new tyres fitted yesterday!

Gone from 165-50-15 to 195-45-15 so the tyres have gone from stretched look to square profile!! seeing as the car is so lowered the had slight issue with rubbing, especially on the rear!!!

Image
Image
Image

i actually cut a grove in the tyre wall and created smoke from the tyres with a mile drive at about 40mph!!!
Image

So some rear camber and arch modification was in order!!!
unbolted the rear hubs and fitted a couple of washers on both side to create a little camber and using a bit of brut force and a hammer and bar i flared the archs slightly!!

The result was about 10mm clearence, and no rubbing even when my 16stone freind was jumping up and down on the sill!!

With that job done i decided to give it a little wash and head out with my mates freshly sprayed Audi B5 RS4!!

haha looks alright tbf, those are VW steeleys aernt they? no-wonder they scrape on the arches, why dont you get some vauxhall alloys they wont scrape at all, and you can run standard without camber.
