Insurance Rip Off, Not Happy
Hi,
Well i had insurance with gsi southern which was the cheapest i found when taking policy out, i'm still on my first year was due up in july and im 20.
Just told them about modifications and they want to put it up £125 a month and start a new policy.
Only told them as a couple of months ago some stupid woman went into the front of me in a car park, luckily didnt really do any damage so no need to claim but made me think im best telling them incase something similar happens again but more serious and they wouldnt pay out if i hadnt told them about the mods.
Other people said i should tell them, so i did. Wish i waited till my first years no claims is up at least.
Already paying £175 a month, so they now want £300 a month.
Anyone know any cheap insurers when they first started driving? I'm a sensible driver, it annoys me i get classed a high risk dodgy driver and get charged a fortune for mods i've paid out of my hard earned money but thats how it works nowadays.
I'm worried they'll want another upfront deposit, last time it was £400 and i cant afford that now, dont know if they could put that deposit to the new policy?
Any advice appreciated as there sending me a 7 day letter of cancellation to decide what i want to do or something now.
Thanks

My daughter (17) has just been insured in her name for a 1.4 corsa 1996 for £800 with admiral fully comp, living in south wales. As Admiral are based in wales perhaps they give us favourable premiums!!

Or, you're parked it in a garage, in a place where people work and earn more then £20k, it's quiet, etc etc. And you're Welsh. Not sure what that has anything to do with anything but Jeremy Clarkson says it so,

I live in London so I thought that would send it up but it didn't.

Re: Insurance Rip Off, Not Happy
That is with eCar. Doesn't help I wont park it in a garage (on the road), I hope it gets lower sooner. It's £200p/m for Provisional. I nearly choked when I saw the price. Absolute joke. I've tried so many other insurers, (except for iKube) and they're returning back like £5k +!andy_corsa wrote:are you crazy paying that? i would rather catch a bus.Mike_Parr wrote:Mines £3600p/a or £380p/m! for a 1.0l trip..

Re: Insurance Rip Off, Not Happy
I always found confused.com and gocompare, etc etc to be a lot more :S I think it is probably the area that's the biggest thing. My postcode is the second highest bracket, my girlfriend's is the highest. Hers is £1700 as a 19 year old for her first year on a 1l Yaris.
It's fun to tell people that when they're all like "oh it's cause you're male, girls get it really cheap".
