hi all
got a 1.2 merit N reg 4 Speed corsa got the "good engine" with the distributor cap
basically when i got out to it in the mornings and fire it up it will start but feel like its running on 3 cylinders then when i rev it up slightly and hold it for a few seconds it runs perfectly.
i was thinking it could maybe be a HT lead breaking up or possible points condenser or rotor are or possibly spark plugs. has any one else had this problem or knows a solution lol

I have a Corsa B, 1.4 8v that has the same problems - only when it is cold. Like in your case, íIf I rev it for a while, it heats up and the problem vanishes.
If the temperature falls below 3 or 2'C (and it has been doing that a lot lately)*, it will not start immediately. You really have to crank it for minutes and pump the acelerator a few times in between. This has cost me a new starter, as my girlfriend once cranked it for so long, the starter overheated and finally died.
If the outside temperature it above 3 or 2'C, it starts like a dream every time. Anyone know what the problem can be? Some electronic choke/valve not dealing well with the low temp?

mine ent like that it will start straight away but just runs on 3 cyclinders for like 5 seconds

speaking of this type of problem my corsa p reg 1.2 8valve has been doing that when i first start it up in a morning been doing it for the past two days sounds like misfire and that but after a bit it runs orite for the rest of the day then next day go and start it up for the first time same thing its weird like dont knw what it is just thought i would share my information with you lol.

My soltion these days where the early morning temp is below freezing:
I run an electrical extension cable to the car, put a 200W heater under the hood, run it for a few minutes... and she starts on first crank.
My electrical bill doesn't like it tho.
But any good idea as to what to look for and test would be great.

i cant be assed to do that lol i think i may change the spark plugs and ht leads and see where that leaves me

Wasn't suggesting you do that too just that it helps me.
If anyone can point me to why it won't start when cold.. takes 10 minutes of cranking the engine - not good for the starter.
And as I wrote, if I put a heater in there for a few minutes, then it starts in half a second. There must be some sensor that is failing when cold.

check your rotary arm inside the dizzy there may be alittle bit of S**t around it,
will usually drop a cyclinder untill its warm enouth to hold it itself.....
if not clean the icv, as that causes lumpyness,
hope it helps...

I had checked and cleaned the rotary arm and diz cap and all.
I will look at the ICV and clean that.

if that does sort your issue out and eg in acouple of weeks it goes back to the same old state,
go buy a new one as there not expensive its the process of illiminate to acumilate
