Red-Corsa // 1.2 LS 1997
Hey,
Firstly i'm not really new on this forum (check how long i've been registered). Sorry for lurking around since then, thats because i had no logs to post yet. Forgive me lol. Okay here goes my first forum post.
Car:
Corsa LS 1.2 // Purchased in Jan 2010 // No mods untill MOT finally passed in August, since then little mods there & there.
Heres some of the pics.
//
//
Alloys = FOX Racing 17in Size 45/205
Little note , i know the wheels are big but believe me i've seen corsas with 17's on and they were lowered to. Was kind of jealous because its not easy on mine .
Whenever i go over a hump at speed , the wheels rub (only the back ones ). I've never had an issue with the front ones.
So i'm thinking of wide body kits ? Bad idea?. Or maybe just wide wheel arch trims ( i will slice the metal inside the wheel-room so that the wheels can safely go inside)
or maybe i can get LESS fatty tyres but still keep them low profile 17in wheels? :/
The car doesn't look too high does it ?. When i removed the stock 13in's , then added 17. I did not see much difference or maybe its just my eyes lol.
Anyways of JAN 2011 i've been doing this...
Broken stock ash box, had no cig lighter ( i dont smoke but i like to charge my phone & the laptop while on move ). So went to scrappy & replaced it
//
The black spoiler did not have any brake lighting , so i attempted to add one. Makes the car look visually bit better at the rear.
(the light was an LED brake stock light taken from a Vectra)
//
Mirror used to be ugly grey, so gave it a spray over with lacquer for gloss.
//
Chrome-ified exhaust tip
//
Nice little package came through today
Guess what it is ?. Okay think "Chrome", and these pics here.
//
//
I've wasted £30 of two rolls try to tint the car in Light-Smoke Black
It was such a bad experience messing around trying to perfect it, but sigh , i gave up.
I dialed some tint companies near my area, i want to tint 2 back windows & the rear only , they just concluded with "£100" as the asking price.
I asked "Are you mad ???", some said "Not Yet" , LOL . I just hung up, i don't have that much yet.
//
Anyway, went to scrappies to find "black" door cards as the grey color is horrible.
All my seats are leather. So today i only installed the BACK ones, i will get the front ones next week hopefully.
Here's one of the backsides.
//
That's all the pics so far. I will try to take more as the project goes on . So any negative or positive comments are welcome guys . I will try to comment your logs too.

Thanks for the replies @gethinwr93.
So shall i take off the chrome tip off ? (not really keen to).Since it was just a 10£ investment,from a local sports-tuning shop , i always thought back boxes would be really loud arent they ?
As for the 17's. Believe me, the left REAR wheel is always catching the metal more than the right side. I am very worried because the side of left wheel feels rough & you can tell is being sliced slowly .
The front wheels never catch anything , even on full lock steer to right/left. So lowering front a bit could be safe i guess ?. The back is just too bouncy! LOL, when ever i see a hump or pot-hole (dodgy holes on the road), i try avoid then or drive at 10pm then speed again ...(as long as i don't annoy who follows me behind lol)

not bad pal, but nah 17 arnt for me, they are more trouble that they are worth, and with them been aftermrket 1's you will have loads of trouble if you start lowering it, i think the dah rings are cool as for window tinting, get a pro do it, i tryd the film and it just went like yours, and all the shops around my way want 100 too thats about right,
i recon, new plates, bumper care on the plastic's, 'red' the spoiler, perhaps smaller wheel's, but thts just my opinion

Re: Red-Corsa // 1.2 LS 1997
That is really true nath2905 17's are a lot to maintain. I spent so much buying them, i want to get some nice 15's but what am i going to do with these 17's ?, i think someone should buy em?.
Do you think there is a vauxhall version of those alloys with the exact same style ? , i generally look for FOX since they make nice alloys .
Looks 100£ is the way to go with the tinting, hurts to spend but gotta be done i guess.
As for the bumpers , i'm waiting on ebay for a GSI bumper to pop up, they seem popular as well as Combat. Whats better ? Combat or GSI ?.
I'm also planning to spray the black trims red, waiting for some nice sideskirts to come up online , can't trust certain fakes lol.
Thanks

Re: Red-Corsa // 1.2 LS 1997
to be honest, 17's on a corsa is just a joke, the car isn't big enough for it and makes it slower. 15's and slammed, or 14's and slammed. Job done. You're motor will look mint when you've finally finished it lmao

Re: Red-Corsa // 1.2 LS 1997
soft stars sre simlar but a bit fatter, cesaro's have 6 spokes cnt think of any more off thetop of my head, i'd go gsi or riegler (think thats how you spell it, some1 may want to correct if not) if you spray them, make sure you give them a good rub all over and use plastic primer first

Re: Red-Corsa // 1.2 LS 1997
Updates .
I took the unthinkable choice , i took off the sexy spoke wheels ( missing them already! ) lol but it was for the best i guess.
I added the old stock wheels that came with the corsa, since my car is "red" , i painted the lips of the wheel "red" and the wheel sprayed in black paint.
I like the outcome
//
//.
I spotted a vectra with chrome door handles ( you know me i like chrome hehe ) , i looked it and i notice it has the same fittings, so makes it an easy swap with the corsa ones.
Also replaced all door cards from ugly grey to black, plus the (door handle , mirror knob cover ) were painted matching the exterior colour:
//
//.
When i replaced the door cards i also replaced the stock door speakers for these power JVC ones. They're so loud, almost couldn't hear police sirens
So this is one of them:
& the speakers at the back, same high power as the front but different brand. Nice to mix 'n' match eh...:
Last not least, the bass-box & the amp.
As the word goes , "it's not about fat it is , its about how much it can shake your car's ASS!! "
Comments & critics welcome
& Ohh, have i made the right choise changing wheels ?. my mind is 50/50

Haha thanks , i did realize the fox's were a lot more trouble than worth. Just wished they were 14/15 instead of 17 lol . Anyways its back to the stock 14's (temporarily). Just undecided which next set to get , i'll make sure they fit inside the arch this time :L .
& Oh, hmm how much are averge springs or shocks to use for lowering the corsa ?. What if i lowered the car using its standard shocks & springs ? (posibble ?)
