well if u wana do it properly u can screw it on.... but tbh no more nails tends to stick it pretty well - my m8s been a long way over the national speed limit and it held fine :)

should it nto have a backing plate for it ..? i mean ive two now and its because i wanted the backing plate for it

yeh technically they shud bt tbh u just dont need one.... unless ur gona be hitting some truly mental speeds no more nails will do the job =)
