The guy will get a few pics for me during the work

Mounts being used are my normal Smallblock XE mounts - no need to change them

Oh, and I dropped it off tonight, so it should be done within the next couple of weeks... :D

Looms stripped out ready for converting, and the 1.8 has started to be stripped down of the crap I don't need that was attached.

Only pic for now;

I think it just looks so radically different because the original ECU is in the cabin, so all the sensors etc go back to it, whereas on the new lump, the ECU is under the bonnet still, so all of the wiring for sensors etc is still attached to the engine in another seperate loom - the modified one should as far as i'm aware just be for the ignition/immobiliser etc to the new ECU...

Firewall stripped of Insulation and the whole engine bay steam cleaned

Apparently the firewall insulation was a proper bitch to be rid of...

looks nice that does mate :) i didnt think you could fit these 'larger' engines in with the gearbox already in place? as with a redtop its best to install the gearbox and engine complete due to the lack of space :-|

It's nothing like an XE conversion though - the engine is a Smallblock for a start, with the physical size near identical to what's been removed, so there is no lack of space - I think the worst bit is that the large variable Inlet manifold fouls just one of the heater matrix pipes, which requires shortening to clear. Thats the only issue with clearance in the conversion.

Yes & No... :lol:

It runs, but it turns out the seller didn't include the Transponder for the Immobiliser, so it starts, runs for about 20s then cuts out under the Immobiliser.

So, as the Seller has scrapped the car the Engine was from, it is unlikely he will have or be able to find the correct Transponder, meaning I'm having to buy a replacement ECU Kit to get it running. Luckily, the Installer has a kit already and is fitting that for me, at cost for the parts though :(

And, to top it all off, they also didn't include the MAF or a Lambda Sensor, so I need to source them now too! :meh:

But, I should be collecting it on Monday or Tuesday... :D
