Audio options

Well I'm a complete novice when it comes to cars so I am in need of a little guidance. I'm purchasing a car stereo within the next week and would like to improve the quality of the audio of the standard speakers. I want to do this without a subwoofer sitting in my boot. So what options do i have? Can the standard speakers simply be replaced for higher quality? Quite like the idea of a couple of speakers poking through the boot panel, how can this be done?

Do apologize for being so amateur but I'm sure you were all like me at one point and willing to learn! So your guidance will be much appreciated, thanks!

well u can either keep your current parcel shelf and cut some holes for your 6x9 spekers, or buy some mdf wood, already shaped as parcel shelf, get some black matt to cover it, and make holes for your speakers in them, and wire them to your stereo, u can easily replace your standard speakers, jus remove the trim, and remove the old and in with the new :p

yep pretty muchc everythings been said above you can put 6x9's in your rear shelf, and wire them in to your existing rear speakers, or if you dont have rear speakers you can install a new wire and wire them direct from the headunit like what i had to do to my first corsa, and you can uprate your standard front speakers aswell for other 13inch speakers, but you will need to get adaptor plates aswell for them to fit into.

wiring and removing trim was fun when i did it lol, made a nice mess of it when i installed my subs,

First off is how good your head unit is, are the bass and treble adjustable seperate from say graphic equaliser settings, mine is and i specificly wanted this to fine tune those elements, then the amount of sound output to your speakers need to be matched up or they won't be used to there full potential.

When i installed my new head unit, i had to get a new harness adapter, so it fit into the existing wireing set up, just a matter of simply plugging in then, so easy, got it from Halfords. As for installing new wireing, just simply take up the plastic areas that are obstructing you, put underneath and fix back down, lucky for me mine had rear speakers already installed, so simply swapped over to my new ones, that i installed into parcel shelf and sounds much better now glad i did.

Going to look into replacing the front two door speakers as look fairly simple. Does anyone know the size of the speakers I need? A direct link to a pair would be very helpful.

Is it just a case of removing the old pair and connecting wires to new?
