Replacing an o/s front wheel bearing

Post by henz »

Hey guys,

A few weeks ago i started hearing a whirring/knocking kind of sound in the off-side front wheel. I'm pretty sure that it's the bearing. I've ordered a new bearing and want to get it replaced asap as its getting louder with every trip. I wasn't sure wether to take it to a garage to get it changed there, or just do it myself.

Has anyone ever replaced one before? If so, how do you do it?

Thanks

Henz

you need a press mate that will pop old one off hub and replace new one,

what i do is take the whole hub off and take it to a side garage they remove and replace new one for £10.

Ahh cool. I think my housemate can pick one of them up. Might be able to do it on the drive. If not, i'll take it to the garage. Thanks mate.

itll be hard mate if youve no got the right tools. need a big breaker bar for the driveshaft nut. then youve got ball joint track rod end strut brakes all to take off. prob be better off taking it to a garage tbh mate.
