cutting out

My mate recently did his redtop conversion which i was looking at taking off him in the next week or so but all of a sudden it has decided to start playing up. it starts up then cuts out he said it only started when me started to move the battery around as it was moving out of place n cutting the car (bounced up knocking the bonnet as the part that holds it in snapped) but i think there is more to it than that.

any ideas what it could be? as i can have it for a nice price if i take it as it is. but the money he wants i cud do 1 myself or if luck a c20let conversion if there isnt much diff from c20xe/ c20let conversion

Does it tick over then cut out? or just turns over, coughs and cuts?

Check usual, breathers, fuel, electrics.....

If the battery was hitting the bonnet, then it must have caused a short? check fuse's

it was shorting out but he worked on that.
he thinks the air/fuel is fine.

it starts, idles then cuts out

if it idles then cuts out, get fuel pressure checked, or try some easy start..... when the car turns over and starts, spray some into the intake pipe, and then when the car is about to cut out, spray a little more. If it continues to run then its a fuel issue.

i personally think its dodgy earth wire lose after he saying he had it on the road for 2/3wks before it happend, but the something sayin its an air leak/ fuel problems. i dont want to risk buying it as he wants 700 for it with just this problem but then its 700 gamble, is it just this problem and how small/big is it what cost is it going to cost me in the end. i have a corsa myself that i brought to do myself but the h/g is on its way out so i stopped all funds going on it for now,.
