its a tedious job but it can be done you need 2 sets of headlights a heatgun some tigerseal or other polyurerethane adehesive you have to warm the black part of the plastic up with the heatgun on 1 set and carfully remove the plastic from around the glass but dont go rambo with the heat it will crack the glass (you need the glass from this set) when ou have both of them put them safe and remove any adhesive, then for the next set smash the glass out of it so you have the plastic bit remaining remove the chrome insert paint it whatever colour you want! ob black is the chosen choice for depo's then put the insert back into the backing, DONT PAINT THE MIRROR AT THE BACK!, then put a bead of sealent to the ridge in the plastic part of the light just enough not to make a mess when you put the glass on, stick the glass in and put some tape around it to keep it in untill it dries (leave them overnight to be safe) just a single peice of electrical tape will do so it stretches because when the sealent sets it expands a little if the tape is too tight you could risk breaking the glass.......simples
If its not bodged then its not "propper"

ok mate thanks for that i will give it a go.

but i dont understand why you need 2 sets of lights? if i'm heating the set of lights to pull it apart carefully and remove the chrome insert, why not just put the same lights all back together? its baffled me

right then, what you need is 1 set of headlights but they need to be standard depo headlights, not valeo ones.

if you try to split valeo headlights you'll have a hard time cos there a right pain in the arse to do. and you'll probly break them.

get a set of standard depo headlights from a scapyard etc. stick them in the oven on a pritty low temperature for a few minutes then prize them appart carefully. paint them, push them back together and put them back in the oven for a few minutes, check them every few minutes and push them together abit more until you can get the clips on.

no need for hammers, tiger seal or anything like that. just a set of standard depo headlights and some patients.(theres two types of depo headlights, the black ones that everyones wants and the standard looking ones that are a replacement part)

i know this works cos i've done it the same way and they have been fitted on my car for ages with no problems.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

i can 100% garentee you that there not. you can get depo's that have the normal insides, not black. i'd be willing to put my life on it.
