Fitting a 4" universal back box with a standard rear bumper?

Post by ak072007 »

Hi, I have just purchased a universal sports back box with a 4 inch pipe. I have a 98 Corsa Breeze 1.4.

The problem I have is that I have just been told by my father in law that because of the way the bumper is that the pipe won't sit right and it will actually point downwards.

Is the only way to do this to use an angle grinder and cut an arch in the bumper?

Preferably I don't want to have to do this! Please could somebody tell me if there is an alternative without hanging the box too low! (I don't want to bash it over speed bumps etc)

you should be alright, if its not then you'l just have to weld a dog leg onto the back of your exhaust so its the same shape as the corsa one, its hard to explain but if you get underneath your car and look at your exhaust you will be able to see that its got a dog leg inlet to the back box, which a universal one wont have.

Yeah it's not the join that I'm worried about, it's getting it to sit up inside the body without having to cut the bumper... Any ideas?
