Loud rattling noise from engine

Hi Guys,
Recently I have noticed if I rev my car slightly or if im pulling of the car makes a really loud rattling noise.
I have no idea what it is

It doesn't do it when i have speed it only does it when i put my foot on the accelerator slightly or pulling of.

It doesn't do it all the time but it seems to be getting worse.

I have a X reg 1.0l Corsa

have you got enough oil in it and is the oil filter ok?

if not sounds like your timing chain may be loose. take the cam cover off and have a look and check the chain is tight.

theres a small hydraulic tensioner inside the timing chain cover and these are quite common to be needed replaced.

i just assumed that the rattle was coming from engine then lol.
does it sound like its coming from the engine or somewhere else?

post a clip from youtube its more easy, but the truoble i think its from " head!!!! "

what you might find it to be is the exhaust manifold cover. this generally rots off on most corsa's try looking at that first.

It is so random it seems to do it when it wants.

The manifold looks rusty but not to the extent that it would be rattling i dont think.

I got a 300 mile journey to do Friday so hopefully it isnt something to bad?!

cant really hear alot, ahh its not the manifold itself, what i mean is a metal cover thats suposed to act like a heat barrier, how much oil is in your engine? as it might be a bit low and starving the cylinder head a bit or something...

Oil change about a month ago, Castrol Magnatec 10w 40,

Does my timing chain sound okay? I always worry it sounds like a diesel lol!

them engines do sound like diesels there crap.

have you checked the oil level?? and is the oil filter ok???

from what i've done on these engines before that sound is either the tappets being starved of oil or the timing chain i reckon

take the cam cover off and have a look like i said before.

if you need any help with doing anything pm and i'll send instructions.
