My Second Car/Corsa

Post by Grant L Walsh »

Hi all again 8)

You may remember my first project log My First Car/Corsa - The Red Corsa Trip which first started off as a Run down corsa, then I transformed it into a Corsa Rally Car and then finally just a normal corsa with White SXI rims onit.

This is when I got it
Image

This is when it turned into a Rally Car
Image

And this is what it finally looked like before I got rid.
Image

Well sadly to say it has now gone. The Engine was making a very loud tapping which was caused by one tappets. Bits and bobs started to go wrong with it and my dad got me into getting rid whilst I could.

Soo a full night on Auto Trader I found my next PERFECT Corsa, with no rust spots, dents as such, perfectly original and standerd, Only 2 owners in its life, Full Service History and its only done 86K on the clock. I got £300 for my old one when I traded it in for my new corsa

Yes I now own a Vauxhall Corsa CLUB 1.0 12V in Silver :D :D

I baught this at the beginning of March and this is its life soo far

I picked it up and half way home from Doncaster to Scunthorpe, the Speedo decided to stop working soo I had to rely on the Sat Nav to tell me when I was speeding
This is it when I got it home but at my gf's
Image
and this is all inside, all original, even the radio was a proper one
Image
Image

Finally I fixed the speedo and replaced the brake pads as they were worn down. I went to work and next thing, my exhaust sounded better and got to work and looked and my exhaust was hangin off and only the bloody rubber mounts were holding it up! :meh:
Soo far I was not happy with this car, despite its engine and body work were perfect :) soo I took it to college later in the week and put my old Sportex Exhaust onit which I took off my OLD Red Corsa. Here it is at College after its exhaust fitted 8)
Image
Then I took it to show all my boy racer mates and they talked me into doing stuff to it and sadly they won me over and decided to go with the theme of the Nissan Skyline off 2Fast2Furious. Silver and Blue. This car already is silver and has blue on the seats and the little badge on the side is Blue
Image
Then I put my New Ripspeed Rims on the car and gave the car a good wash, also baught an OEM+ sticker for it
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Then I fitted my old JVC stereo soo I could have my EDGE sub in because I really missed the Bass lol 8)
Image
Image

Next I baught myself an Irmscher Nurburgring Sticker for the back
Image
Image
Image

Next I wanted my car to be lit up Blue at night time but I didn't want to buy loads of Blue neons or blue LEDS all over the car soo I just simply baught a new Blue LED bulb for the Courtesy Light, a Blue LED Bulb for the Boot Light and 2 New LED's for the Clock
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Next Job was to replace the speakers and no I wasn't going to be ruining the parcel shelf with big large 6X9's etc... Soo I played it safe and baught some 5inch FLI's to go in the ORIGINAL place for the back speakers. The reason I picked FLI's was because they are grey and match the car 8)
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
And here is the old original sound system
Image
I replaced my front speakers with my OLD EDGE speakers which had the tweeters separate soo they can go in the handles of the door. These will soon be replaced with NEW FLI's. Also got a FLI Sticker and put that on the car
Image
Image

Next was to paint the callipers and drums all BLUE 8)
Image
Image
Image
Image

Also the latest thing I have done to the car is paint the Rockercover Blue  8)
Image
Image
Image
Also whilst I was on the engine, I cleaned all of the Yellow caps, from the Oil Cap, Coolant, Washer bottle and the Dip Stick soo they all look brand new 8)

Hope you like my new car soo far, I have got a new Badgless Grill on the way, Black repeaters and some Irmscher stickers for the mirrors 8)

erm soo far the ONLY plans I got for it at the minute are;
Replace the EDGE Sub with a 10/12inch FLI, New design or old, haven't decided yet.
Replace the front EDGE Speakers for FLI's but with the tweeter seperate soo it can go in the handle part of the door.
Paint all of the bottom half of the bumpers Silver to match the car but still have the black trim line seperating the body and the painted part. Its alot cheaper at looking for colour coded bumpers :/
Put an Induction kit on the car, with a Blue Air Filter and a Blue Pipe for it.
Get some Proper Corsa B Mats which are tailored for the car.
Lowering it by 40mm.
Replacing the current RED JVC stereo for a BLUE more better equipped JVC which has a Remote, USB and More power :D
Paint my ROOF LINING BLACK & Same with anything which is cream inside. Basically the pillars and the sunvisors :D
Paint more parts of the Engine bay BLUE (MAYBE DOING ABIT TODAY) :D

Anymore ideas welcome.
Oh yes for those who read the part I'm basing it on the 2fast2furious skyline. I mean as in the Silver and Blue light theme, NOT actually going to make my corsa look like a skyline lol with the blue stripe down the side and a jap bumper etc...

so mostly its ice and interior then lol. im planning on doing my roof lining black and all that too lol. if you lower it you have to check the offset of the wheels if there think its 38-45 itll be fine but if not youll get rubbing. whats the blue interior lights like at night?

My Blue LED Light at night is very bright, really does light up the car at night, defo makes heads turn when your parked up 8) The only down side is if you drop anything on the floor, its quite hard to see it

Anyway another massive update :D
Today been on my Engine Bay all day painting my little parts which just give it a much better look to it. I haven't gone mad with the Blue Paint but I think what I have done is enough for now, maybe a few more bits need to be painted

First off was the Thermostat Housing
Image

Next was the Clutch Cable Linkage
Image

Whilst they were drying and deciding what else to paint, I did this to my airbox until I get my proper Air Filter and Induction Pipe
Image

Then it was the Battery Tray
Image
Image

Then it was some random big botls for the housing above the butterfly valve
Image

Then an Engine Mount
Image
Then the Airbox was put back
Image

This is what the engine looked like around about 2ish today
Image

More had to be done, soo here is the rest of what I did to the engine :D
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Image

This was it all finished but I just thought it needed a little touch to make it better

Image

Perfect, an Irmscher Badge 8)

After the Engine was finished, I fitted my 2 new Tinted Repeaters and my 2 new Irmscher Mirrors :D

Image
Image
Image
Image

Hope you like the Engine soo far and more to come shortly, mainly the debadged grill and eventually the roof lining painted black and all of the pillars painted black 8)

wow that actually looks really tidy mate fair play, and what paint is that your using? as it looks really rather like arden blue paint, what you want now is a battery bag and your engine bay will look mint :) oh and have you ordered your air filter etc? if not then i would advise on ordering a panel filter because on these engines a panel filter is better to use with a drilled and de-restricted air box. other than that it looks a minter 8) love your bay :D

Thanks alot mate, it was a massive risk and the reason I did it was because seeing all these peeps on here when they do engine rebuilds with nicely painted engines, I wanted myn to look good soo I had a bash and even I'm shocked how good its turned out :D I might do a blue and yellow theme underneath with all the yellow caps under the engine.
I used Halfords branded Calliper paint which can withstand heat. To test it i ran the engine for 20 mins and the engine was very hot and the paint wasn't runny or sticky soo job well done.
Erm yes I have wanted a battery bag but just to let you know, I need a new battery as myn has been in there for around 6 years and it says it needs replacing soo if I get a nice battery I might still get a bag for it, but don't know which one i need, been on ebay and all just look the same to me lol

But thanks for the comment, I would recommend doing it, its best to use the brush type, not spray can lol
Any other bits would you recommend I paint in the engine bay or do you think thats just the right amount of blue and paint some bits yellow to even it out abit

another quick update. Today off to Halfords to get some yellow paint and painting only a few bits yellow to go with the blue engine and all of the yellow caps (OIL/WASHER/COOLANT & DIPSTICK) and I think it would look nice my engine bay being blue and yellow :D

Been a while but abit of a BIG Update :D

First off my engine has only a few more bits painted for now, I have gone for a Blue & Yellow theme under the bonnet with the yellow caps which made me think that 8)

Anyway, here are the first set of piccies 8)
Image
Image
Image
Image

Image
Image
Image

As you can gather, I love my engine lol 8) but knowing me I like change and in summer time I want to completely dismantle the engine parts and give them a good clean, I mean snading it all down. Thats all the blue removed and have it a nice silver/chromey look 8)

Anyway moving on, I wanted to give this car a proper clean :D Soo I had the car up in the air at my house and took all the wheels off and got all the soo many years of mud and crap in the arches which were all dried up and wedged away :meh:

Image
Image
Image
Image

AAAAAAA yes, I got my girlfriend helping me out 8) also I finally got an Irmscher Grill :D

Also I went to Lightwater Valley yesturday and there were lots of Vauxhalls about, felts like I was at PVS
Image

Then that night my mates wanted to see what my car looked like lowered soo we got 8 peeps in my car. 1 in the boot, 2 sat on the edge of the boot, 4 sat in the back and 1 sat in the front :D
Image
Image

Now thats what mates are for lol

Anyway this weekend I sat down and planned out how I want my car to end up looking like. Soo here is the first stage, sort out the outside abit :?
Removed the Stupid Irmscher Nurburgring Sticker and FLI Sticker :D also whilst I was at it, I removed the 12V badge which will soon be replaced by a proper Irmscher Badge :D
Image

Next was the Club badges on the side to be removed
Image

Next was to remove the Irmscher Stickers on the mirrors
Image

Then it was to spray parts of the interior
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Whilst that lot was drying I just had to take this pic 8)
Image

Ooooo yesh 8) :D

Tomorrows update is to refit all of the interior 8)

Re: My Second Car/Corsa

I simply used some grey primer and then used some Gloss Black Paint :D
it took 2 cans to spray the whole roof lining and 1 can to spray all of the interior bits. I used 4 400ml cans in all :meh:
Why it was 4 cans in all is because I didnt use any primer for the roof lining

Its a pritty easy job to do :) It takes about half a day to do. But I would take a day soo the paint gets a good dry before installing. You just have to be extra careful as its easy to scratch your work and you end up sprayin bits inside of the car :meh: Anyway I have put most of it all back in last night at some godley hour  just a few more bits and I am done and then more piccies :D
Hope this helps Jordyp :)
