Idle control valve help !

Hi guys

Noticed the other day my car wasnt idleing properly
So i found out that the icv has burnt out or broken either way i have purchaseda brand new one
So do i just fit it stright on or do i have to reset the ecu before i put it on ????

I do not know much about this stuff, however there is a guide on this forum about how to clean the Idle Control Valve. Although it is for cleaning the ICV, it should tell you about other things you may need to do before fitting a new one.

You probably would have to reset the ECU, you can do this by removing the negative terminal on the battery for about an hour or more. Once the ECU has been rest and the ICV is in place turn the engine on but do not rev. You should leave it for about 10 minutes or so, this is so that the ECU can reset and configure itself.

Thanks for replying :)
I have seen the tutorial on the forum for cleaning the icv
I can tell its defo broken because my car wont tick over it just stalls and i think i will
Reset the ecu when i put on the new icv
