Putting two 12inch subs in parcel shelves

Post by saraahcorsa »

My sub was taking up too much space in my boot so I am planning on putting the two 12" subs in my parcel shelf.

It is not shaped very well for placing them so I'm not sure whether to make my own parcel shelf or make alterations to the original one?

Any suggestions?

you will probly have to make your own, the standard one would probly struggle to coupe with all the weight
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

You would be better puttin three 8" subs on your shelf. Enclose them in a box
Spread the weight

Ive already got the two 12" so would rather keep them.
Thought it would be a make your own solution, would the best thing to use be MDF and fibreglass?

you'l need an enclosure for them to run inside otherwise they'l sound crap, as they're designed to have the perfect amount of air enclosed behind them.

I've got two enclosed in a huge box at the moment. Got 6 by 9's on the sides in the back and have changed the front speakers. I like the speaker combination just want it to look nicer and get rid of the hefty box in the boot.

the only way to get rid of the box is to get rid of the subs, where ever you put your subs they WILL HAVE TO have an enclosure otherwise they will sound poo.

They were in a home made box though and I don't think my friend is a pro with making sub enclosures but they still sounded good. What is it that will change the quality?

I have two JBL1202d in an enclosure i rid myself and they have to have their
own air space to work at their peak. You can get free air subs though

The original box is so big that the enclosure that will be made with the boot closed and the parcel shelf down is not that much bigger than the box.

you could make your own boxes, and fit them to the sides of the boot if that helps?

I'll let you know how it goes, going to do an mdf parcel shelf with the two subs in and two 3" that I thought were broken raised on about a 20 degree angle facing the front between them.
