Hi all, seem to have another problem that I need help with. For a while now, when starting the car the engine will make a clicking noise that will last for maybe about 1/2 a second at the most. Then it suddenly disappears and then engine is fine for the rest of the day. It mainly seems to do it on cold starts.
Any help would be appreciated, although this may not be a major problem or anything bad at all, I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing wrong with it.
Thanks
Clicking when the engine is started.

Re: Clicking when the engine is started.
It's your idle control it was doing it on mine if you open the bonnet and have someone else turn the key even before you crank it you will hear it clicking, If it's working alright when driven I wouldn't personally worry about it. I took mine apart and then put it together again and also adjusted the throttle slightly and it hasn't been clicking like mad since when I first turn the key but might have just got lucky.

I'll probably have to take it out and clean it then, Don't want to be spending out on a new one if it can be fixed first. I have also noticed that the car was idling a little weird lately, while sitting in traffic it would occasionally go from 900 revs (Which is normal) to 1000 and then drop back down again.

Yeah for sure Idle control then there is a section on these forums showing how to open them up and clean them I suggest you take a look it's a good write up but you can get decent second hand one for cheap on ebay or even new ones for around £35 for replacement one and £65-£70 for Bosch.
