Hi everybody,
bought a 1997 Corsa 1.5TD some 5 years ago, and at first the clutch sometimes slipped (lot of revs, no increase in speed). Not to be sexist, I bought it off a girl, so I thought she'd "flattened" the relief on the plates, so to check whether it was actually worn or just "flattened", I started to release the clutch very quickly after shifting, and after a few weeks the slipping subsided (it didn't happen that often anyway). And I haven't had any shifting problems for about three years.
But a few months ago I started to have some problems shifting up from 1st to 2nd (especially in lefthand corners), and shifting down from 3rd to 2nd, and 2nd to 1st. It only happened once in a while, so no big deal. But the last few weeks the problem is almost constant. At a standstill putting it into 1st is very hard (or at a near-stop shifting back to 1st), and shifting up from 1st to 2nd in a lefthanded corner (and sometimes righthanded) is nearly impossible.
I have no problems with reverse, and there is no grinding at all. It's as if a rubber stopper is keeping me from engaging the gear...
FYI: it's a five-speed F13.
Anybody any idea?

Re: Gearing problem
so does it feel as tho its the clutch slipping again? or do you mean it just doesnt want to engage gear? as you can re-set the gear selector rod as its just a clamp system, orr is it just the clutch is say too low and wants lifting up a bit by adjusting the plastic nut on the gearbox end of the clutch cable,

Re: Gearing problem
Hi Pricer,
No, no slipping for the past 4 years. I push the gearshift lever, and it just won't get into gear (it's as if the gears are pushing against hard rubber). Double shifting doesn't help either, and the problem persists whether the engine is cold or warm.
I tried adjusting the clutch cable, but I have this config:
On the photo it looks as though I could reach it, but the end of the cable is situated right underneath the fuel filter, and I can't reach from the front, and I don't have enough room for both hands from the back, so nearly impossible to adjust without removing the filter. Maybe someone has a trick...
