Is a 1.0l Corsa too feeble to drive?
Hello all, advice please.
My beloved 1.7 Diesel Corsa (S reg) was wiped out over easter by some plonker in a subaru.
I used it for going to work 2 days a week (85 miles total), running about to shops and occasional long trips (500 miles round trip)
I need a replacement fast. My trusty dealer has a 1.0 litre petrol Corsa B (W reg) which looks very nice, low mileage etc.
My question is - would I find the 1.0 litre engine utterly feeble and useless? (not that I overtake much, being a middle-aged female).
your comments would be very helpful, thanks.

I'd say its better to at least get a 1.2. That's just my opinion, 1.2 or 1.4. But doesn't really matter on the shorter trips, you just won't enjoy it on the long trips you mentioned.

the 1.0 are decent engines, believe it or not its faster than the 1.2 8v, they pull well enough for overtaking etc.

yea the 1L's are good cars, they are faster than the 1.2 8v apparently, but the 1.2 8v i had was pretty quick, but anyway yea the're fast little cars for what they are, you'l be suprised when you look around the corsa scene what cars are actually only 1L's and 1.2 8v's.

there not slow by any means but i would never recommend to anyone to buy a 1.0.
i'd say the 1.2 8v is a miles better engine - won't get half the problems you're gonna get with the 1.0.

My 1.0 aint had no problems, although it has recently been fully rebuilt. Runs like new.
It's quite nippy if you know how to change gear properly. As in, the right amount of rev's.

Hey. I have the 1.0 12v and find it's a fantastic all round runner. Did a 300 mile round trip last week... Was perfect. Abs yes.. If it's just you or maybe two people in there there's plenty of power to overtake etc. Mike hit it on the head though.. If you know when to change gear... They are fairly nippy little cars!

Yeah, I love my 1.0l Bit laggy when it comes to going up hills sometimes, but if you know how to drive it it pulls nicely- it's a matter of giving it the beans for a bit longer when over taking, hehe. Oh, and they're ridiculously good on fuel in my experience (500 miles to a tank, hehe).

So overall from what i read here the census is there alright cheap to run corsa's as long as you drive it correctly and look after it well.
