choked diesel 17d

Got a problem with the diesel its down to about 30 mpg which is less than my other motor a frontera 2.8.

:

Even worse the fronty has 12000 miles on it the corsa 70,000

Checked the heater plugs changed the fuel filter

Changed air filter

Checked Tyre pressures

Checked everything including diesel pump

I have had the car for about 4 years

It does not overheat or use oil but feels choked it has EGR and heard these sometimes play up but its working

Checked TIS and all values correct for pump etc

HELP Needed

how about exhaust leaks, or blowing? that\'d account for an increase in diesel you are putting in. as the engine has to work harder to get the same amount of power as you\'d usually have, idve gone for the fuel filter 1st as well

Had that checked out on the ramp at local garage we have tried everything.

Spent so far about Â£60 in parts

The 1.7 has normally returned 55 to 60 MPG rain snow sunshine

Even checked that the fuel tank was not leaking

Does anyone know what the resonator does on the air inlet side its a black plastic thing connected to the inlet manifold by a pipe

This little corsa has me at its mercy and my wallet

UPDATE:

Found the manifold all choked with soot to a treacle consistency removed the manifold and put in in a degreaser.

After degreasing all the soot just blew out with a hose.

Found the cause EGR valve so blanked it

Also blanked vac hose to valve

Added Diesel boost direct to clean out any other gunge in the Head.

Now got acceleration back and MPG

wow, that was a good find, ive had my egr valve blanked off as well, dunno how they done it tho

Use some of that 10k diesel boost works a treat.
