Hi everyone,
My mrs has just got a used Corsa GLS 1.2 16v (2000 reg). The car is driving fine, we've checked the levels and they seem ok, but she's concerned about the exhaust fumes.
The smoke looks white to me, but there can sometimes be a lot of it, but usually more noticeable nearer the beginning of the journey, especially waiting at lights.
I think it may be condensation and the weather, but really not sure as we don't know a lot about cars...
Any advice? We may take it in for a full or interim service, but not sure if they'd pick up the problem or not? We've never had a car before either, so we don't have a trusted garage yet - was thinking someone like F1 autocentres, theres one not too far away, someone has recommended them to me before - they're also a chain so not sure if that's good or bad!?
Thanks for any help
G

Re: Exhaust smoke
its probably just condensation in the exhaust system and not being rude but as its a woman driver they tend to drive steadily so the condensation does tend to stay in the exhaust boxes alot more than if say a man was driving it as we tend to putting it politely "put our foot down" so the exhaust boxes get walm and get rid of the moisture in them, white smoke is water, blue smoke is oil, and black smoke is over fuel BUT ONLY ON A DIESEL. and on a REALLY BAD note the white smoke could be a sign of the head gasket going between a water gallery and cylinder so its burning / using water, but i doubt thats what it is, i'd say its just a moisture build up.
