X12XE No compression

Post by MA8837 »

As said in the title

I have a Corsa SXi with no compression at all on cylinder 2. The rest of the cylinders are fine. Also cylinder 2 spark plug is coated in oil

Also the pressure has started coming out of the cam cover and started blowing the cam cover gasket lobes out aswell. Just want to know if any one else has encounterd this problem and what was the cause? I no the cylinder head will deffinatly have to come off as i am doing that on saturday.

Putting any bigger engine in isnt really an option for me as this is my first car. I am quite competant with the spanners aswell so doesnt bother me doing the work aswell.

Any help would be much appreciated

sounds like you've blown a piston ring, means taking the head and sump off and removing the pistons. you will need a new set of piston rings (makes sense to do them all) and a new set of big end bearings (again just makes sense) and a new head gasket set

Yeah that was one of the conclusions i came to when i seen the plug coated in oil and the no compression.

Anyways thanks for the help, ill keep updated if its something other than piston rings which i highly doubt :-(

yeah, it is a bit of a big job unfortunately but you should be able to do it with the engine still in the car so thats one less hassle, need to remove the head and the sump and that should let you get at everything you need
