Hey guys,
My missus has recently bought a 1993 Corsa 1.5TD with 107000 on the clock, no service history.
I have changed the oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter as well as run some redex fuel cleaner through it.
It has started to develop a fault:
When the ignition is turned on, the glow plug light comes on and goes out after approx' 5 seconds. Start the car and it fires up straight away. However, when the car has been stood and it's cold outside it will start to splutter after a few seconds. If the throttle goes untouched it sometimes stalls. If I raise the revs to 1500 the engine will still run but it will misfire and emit white smoke from the exhaust. After approx' 20 seconds the car will then run fine. No white smoke/no misfire.
I would like to add that I have found a broken sensor on the fuel filter housing, I believe it is the "fuel temperature sensor" and is located on the upmost of the fuel filter housing. Could this broken sensor be causing the fault?
I am going to replace the sensor and the glow plugs, but other than that I'm stuck.
Any ideas?

Re: 1.5TD - white smoke and misfire on cold start
will be one or two of the glow plugs not working, mine does the same...smokes really bad when cold and misses but after about 20-30seconds it picks up and stops smoking
